Welcome! My name is Philip Knerr. I’m a full-stack software developer specializing in web-based applications and API’s. I’ve worked on everything from a massive SaaS application with approximately 500,000 lines of code to websites for small businesses. I’m equally comfortable with the cutting edge of technology and with time-tested solutions. My goal is to combine an understanding of the underlying technology with an understanding of the needs of the organization and its end users.

My primary focus is on back-end and database development. I have extensive experience in programming in modern PHP and modern JavaScript and in building and querying databases. When possible, I leverage modern frameworks such as Laravel and Vue. I’m proficient in implementing sophisticated business logic and using mathematics. Additionally, I have a solid understanding of front-end development. My experience covers the full project life cycle.

Moreover, I have extensive experience in working directly with stakeholders to meet their needs. These stakeholders have included not only technical team members, but also project managers, graphic designers, and points of contact at client firms. Often, I’ve collaborated with stakeholders to define requirements. My experience also includes technical writing and explaining technical concepts in a way that all stakeholders can understand.

Furthermore, I’m an inquisitive, analytical problem solver who loves learning new ways of getting the job done. If there’s a component of your technology stack that I don’t already know, I’m probably open to learning it. I’m adaptable, and I learn new software and computing environments quickly. I’m equally adept at seeing the big picture and paying attention to detail.

I’m a team player. But when it’s best for the team, I can also work independently.

I’m a warm, outgoing person with a variety of interests. In my personal and professional lives, I have extensive experience relating to people from many cultural backgrounds. In particular, I have experience in participating on international teams.

I’m currently open to new positions, including full-time, contract, and contract-to-hire roles.

I’m open to working on-site in many geographic areas. This includes, but is not limited to, most areas of the Midwest, Southeast, Utah, and Idaho. Also, I’m open to fully remote opportunities, and I have years of experience in being productive while working remotely.

I’m authorized to work for any employer or client in the United States of America. On-site work in many foreign countries will be considered if work authorization can be arranged.
